The Year Ending Post 2018

"The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a new book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals."  -Melody Beattie What book are you going to write in 2019?  Write a book that makes you think, that changes you and that teaches you. Write a book that motivates and empowers you. A book that reminds you not to give up and of reminds you of your good qualities.  Write a book that encourages you and makes you cry of happiness. Write a book that teaches you kindness and love. Write a book that makes you look at the world with peace in mind. Write a book that makes you want to be a better person. Write a book about perseverance, strength, and patience. Most importantly, just write.

Last Day- Houston

(Last Day of School) Let's ignore the fact that I skipped from the first week in Houston to the last. It was six weeks of teaching summer school in Houston. It felt like an eternity and I couldn't wait to get home. The experience was, however, amazing.  It doesn't take long to fall in love with the kids and know that they are the purpose. It was a shame to leave them behind but I have a new group of students here that I love very much. I appreciate the experience of teaching in Houston and even though in part it was a lonely experience, I met great people that helped with that.; many teachers that were in the same boat, feeling the same anxiety. I wish them the best as their journey begins along with mine. What an experience!

My Journey in Houston, Texas Part 1

A new journey has begun. A scary new journey has begun. But by now, I understand that any new journey can be scary, especially, when it's taking you out of your comfort zone. But please, don't ever let that stop you from completing your dreams. Please, continue to fight through those emotions and surround yourself with positive people. They will constantly remind you of your strengths.  I'm currently in Houston, Texas enjoying the very humid weather (not so much). But most importantly, I'm meeting new wonderful people that have embarked on this journey with me. We are looking forward to changing the world one student at a time.

The Warrior Page 10

"A Warrior of the Light knows that certain moments repeat themselves. He often finds himself faced by the same problems and situations, and seeing these difficult situations return, he grows depressed, thinking that he is incapable of making progress in life. "I've' been through all this before," he says to his heart. "Yes, you have been through all this before," replies his heart. "But you have never been beyond it." Then the warrior realizes that these repeated experiences have but one aim: to teach him what he does not want to learn." WARRIOR OF THE LIGHT BY: PAULO COELHO PAGE 10 Have you ever read something that immediately triggered something inside of you? This was it. It was eye-opening for me when the heart replies "but you have never been beyond it". It makes sense, doesn't it? You are stuck in this loop making the same mistakes and creating the same problems for yourself because you hav...

Random Thought

Recognize that you have worked very hard. You deserve that vacation, that nice dinner and that nice trip to an island. Recognize that the good things happening in your life are due to the work you put in. Give yourself credit and most importantly continue working hard, continue planning and never give up. Now you have proof that hard work pays off. Not giving up pays off.

Excerpt

"Look how much things have changed. We are not the same anymore, nothing is going to be the same anymore. Don't you understand? We have to let go." Her back was once turned to him when they had this conversation; probably because she wasn't sure. The words were coming out of her mouth but it wasn't what she really wanted. She wanted him to fight for her. Maybe tell her that it was a mistake for them to let go. But he didn't say anything then. "We had this conversation before." "Exactly, nothing changed. I can't do it anymore. There are a lot of people getting hurt because of us. Most importantly, I'm getting hurt and...I don't want to hurt anymore. I'm going to walk away." She stood up to go and he grabbed my arm. "Is this really what you want?" He asked. "Is it?" She nodded her head. "Yes." "If you are sure then." He said before letting go of her arm. As she walked away, he...

Courage: Episode 2

Last summer I attended a seminar and one of the things they talked about was fear. They talked about all the different things that we feared. They explained that fear had something to do with the brain and how trying new things would give the brain the idea that something was wrong and fear was something you felt when you did something out of your comfor zone. Is this true? I don't know and honestly doesn't matter. But I though about a particular fear that I have. So, this summer I was at the pool with my friends and my sister. They were all jumping in and out of the pool and they wanted me to join them. One of my biggest fear is jumping into things. It's about trusting that you'll be caught and I just have my guard up when it comes to trust. Like, I would never let myself fall back into someone's arms. So, I grabbed my friend's hand and ran towards the pool and suddenly stopped. I couldn't do it. He ended up in the pool and I was just looking down at him....
