The Library Books

It was a couple of weeks before my paper was done and I had yet to do my research. I remember Peter and I were heading to the Library of Manhattan, where I had previously requested a few books for my topic. I was planning on writing about the women in the life of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. I linked that up to feminism and bang! I had a good topic for my thesis paper. So, how does this fit into the story? Well how many people took a Don Quijote de La Mancha course in the Spring of  2013? How many people were looking to write a thesis paper about how the author Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra can be considered a feminist for his time? Well, let's find out. Here I go to the library where I had ordered three books the week before. I give my ticket to the woman behind the desk. And she goes to the back to search for the books. I'm standing there looking at the ceiling. By the way, what a beautiful ceiling. I can't quite remember it but it's just very enchanting. Sudden...

Excerpt: The Threat

I choose to write The Threat as part of Nanowrimo 2013, unfortunately I didn't get to finish it. But I am working on it. I only have a few chapters left. I wanted to share this important moment in my novel. The minute I hit the floor I could feel the petals slowly moving towards my body as if some imaginary wind was pushing them to me. I don't think I believed one word that crazy nurse said until that moment. The reality hit me that I was truly going to die and there was absolutely nothing I could do. "This place is magical." I heard her say. "You see it right?" I couldn't speak. I could just stared up at her sickening face.  How happy she looked in a place that wasn't hers and that she would never have. Just that little detail made me happy. Imagine if she actually had the antidote to Moonlites. Imagine how many more people would be dead and the awful things she would do. "I'm going to explore, this is where I leave yo...

Book:

The first book I want to read this year: I want to read at least 5 books this year. I heard about this book and I wanted to give it a try. The title obviously captures my attention specially because it's written by a man: Charles J Orlando. I was capture when I read a few quotes like this one: It's interesting to hear what the opposite sex has to say, if what they have to say actually makes sense and doesn't bring out just the negative, but the positive as well.

Random Thought

Yesterday I had the opportunity to reunite many of my friends and family in a small gathering in Manhattan. I was sitting at the head of the table. What they saw was maybe a bunch of random people some that couldn't speak English. I on the other hand saw little parts of me that have stuck with me throughout the years. Each of them knew a part of me and lived in a time in my life that was different. It went from the first person who held me in her arms, my mother, to the most recent person I was introduced to, a friend of a friend. Yes, there were people missing to complete the puzzle.  But somehow seeing those that attended and hearing them say these wonderful things about me made me realize that I have so many wonderful people in my life. They see things in me that I don't see in myself. And how important it is to be surrounded by good people that push you to be better every day. I think for some time I missed that and I found myself lost. I didn't realize though that it ...

Excerpt: Office Business

This excerpt came from another book . It's nothing I'm planning to complete, just wanted to write for the heck of it. Chapter One “Good morning.” I was sitting behind my desk talking to a very important investor. But when Chris Parker walked in my office I had to drop everything and fall to his knees, in his dreams anyways. I ignored him. “Well Mr. Johnson, I’m sure we can come up with an arrangement. Mr. Parker would love to meet with you this weekend. He already offered to pay for the hotel of your choice. He is in the mood for business, how can you say no to such offer?” “How can you say no to that kind of offer Alexandra, I can call you Alexandra, right?” “Oh, absolutely Mr. Johnson! You should see me right now. I’m blushing.” I rolled my eyes and Chris chuckled. It was my job to make sure the clients wanted to do business. If I had to lie and tell an 87 year old man he made me blush, I didn’t think about it twice. Of course, He had to come to New York and do ...
