The Year Ends

I live life everyday thinking that one day it won't come to an end. And as this year ends, I realize that there was a very hurtful but valuable lesson learned this year: Life can and will come to an end when you less expect it. It doesn't ask any questions and it doesn't give you a sign. Things of materialistic value is worth nothing when your life ends and what you leave behind of value is the love and the people whose lives you touched. 2015 will begin without my friend John who one night after talking to me on the phone sat down to read on his chair and died, I want to make sure that in 2015 I do a lot more things than I did in 2014. I have big plans for me and I want to make sure that this new year and the years that I have left to live, that I live them to the fullest because I just don't know how much longer I'll be here to continue writing and continue enjoying wonderful moments with my friends and family. Even though this isn't something that people wan...

My Stars: Diosmary

Diosmary Not even distance can keep us from being as close and as connected as we are. You are a beautiful and intelligent woman. You have all that it takes to be successful and I hope that everything you want of life you receive. You are an amazing human being and a wonderful sister to me. I am very grateful for having you in my life and I couldn't ask for anyone better. No matter what, I'll always be here for you.

Excerpt: Grayish 2

Grayish 2, Introducing another character. “ I can't give you one more drink. Legally Denise, you are drunk.” The bartender handed her a glass of water. “If you keep drinking this way...” “ Tony, please. If I have to hear another of your stories...oh.” She leaned her head on the counter. “I think I would prefer to just shoot myself, let's leave it at that.” “ Good thing your apartment is upstairs. I mean, not a good thing but at least you don't live far so that I would have to worry if you cold drive or not.” “ I'm fine, I'm fine.” Denise could barely get up. “ Why do you drink so much, huh? Are you ever going to share that little secret with me? I'm curious.” “ Ask my mother. She stressed the shit out of me. This is why I'm so horrible. If she ever cared to call me it was simply to remind me what a horrible person I was. All this time I just wanted my mother to love my a little, you know?” “ You're doing well with your life Denise. Y...

Excerpt: "Without Our Father"

An excerpt of a short story about sibling love. This is something I wrote many years ago about a depressed and hurting Alexandra in her teenage years. It's a reflection of my own teenage years in high school. “I loved it when they would take us to the ice cream shop after the beach and allow us to eat as much ice cream as we wanted.” Daniel said. He was standing behind her. His eyes filled with tears. “Oh and the picnics and the road trips…we had to be the luckiest kids ever. We had the best father and mother in the world. He might be gone Alex, but we still have mom and we still have each other. I-I’m so tired of arguing with you…I don’t want to argue with you and neither does mom.” “I killed him.” She cried. “I felt like I knew everything just like now that I’m a teenager…in high school and all. But back then I thought I could do things on my own.” He walked to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. “I didn’t realize what I was doing…I killed him I did I should...

Excerpt: A Trip To San Carlos

National Novel Writing Month 2014 “Good, and talk to me about this new project. It’s a lot to take on, what if you want to return home?” “I can’t.” I shrugged. “I took on this project and I have to stay committed. And it’s to help rebuild the city. Did this side of the town get affected?” “Not really, but the city yeah.” “You would think that you guys that were so near the ocean would definitely have gotten affected.” “That’s because of the legend of Carlos the drifter. The town is named after him.” “So, what’s the story?” I asked. “Not tonight.” Grandpa laughed. “You just got here.” The house was a beautiful one floor home with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the back it had a hammock hanging by two nearby trees and in the front a deck where they kept two comfortable chairs. The living room was nicely decorated in light blue and white. It felt so much like a summer home. The beach could be seen in the distance. “I love your home.” I said as grandma directed ...

When I Miss You, I Read This Poem

Today like everyday I miss you. To all of my love ones that have gone, When I miss you, I read this poem: Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there,  I did not die. "Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep" Mary Frye

El viaje a San Carlos

The idea was to write this book in Spanish. It was supposed to be a short story but I decided to expand it in both languages for my november novel with different characters and a different plot. What are you writing for National Novel Writing Month? ...

My Life In Pictures 5

Meeting someone new, quickly clicking & then drawing silly things on his hand.  He just laughs it off. Learning responsibility to a whole new level. Finally living in the present and not waiting until tomorrow to have in my life someone that I really wanted. Enjoying all the moments I spend with her. She is a box of surprises, I swear I learn more from her than I think she learns from me. "Take a picture" she says and then turns her face the other way and laughs at me. Learning that one moment someone is with you and the next second they are gone. Life can truly be cruel and sad. But somehow we must find a way to pick ourselves up and keep moving.  I made a wish.

Chapter 34

I love the relationship between Sawsan and Timothy, they are so broken yet together they give each other strength. (Excerpt: The Threat) My feet were bleeding; they were highly in pain, but I didn’t stop moving. I didn’t miss a step. I was behind the glass following her every step, her every move, her every sway and her every breath. I was determine to get this right, this right here was going to be my vengeance. My family and friends and this town depended on me to finish this. By the end of the dance I wanted everyone in the crowd to stand up, to buy this. I wanted everyone to see my hard work pay off and I wanted everyone to shout as the Queen’s body fell to my feet. And unlike her at the end of the dance, I wasn’t going to hide. I was going to tell them the truth; I was going to open everyone’s eyes. It was a suicide mission. “ You can stop now.” I could see Timothy standing by the door from the reflection in the mirror. “You know every single move, why do yo...

Goodbye My Friend, Never To Be Forgotten

September 16, 2014 I received a call that my great friend, my great support John Rozankowski had gone to a better place.  I don't think there are words that could possibly explain the emptiness he leaves behind. You left a place in my heart that none will be able to fulfill. But I'm very grateful because you were in my life and you left behind good memories and a great legacy. John Rozankowski May 12, 1953- September 16, 2014 Thank you for believing in me.  Rest in peace my friend.

Random Rant: When The Ending Is A Disappointment.

I just felt like ranting a little.... My heart is broken! Halfway through reading "Allegiant" I read that the ending of the book was horrible. I was curious and quickly read ahead, for what? To find out Tris...dies...DIES. Yes, this is my first time getting into a series and bam! I'm so disappointed I don't know what to do. I'm thinking of selling the books or I don't know what. I just don't want to have them in my bookshelf as a constant reminder that Veronica killed Tris and left Four without the best thing that ever happened to him. This is just like the time Will was killed in The Good Wife. Why create and build such a good relationship between the main characters to just kill one of them off? Do we not have enough pain in the world? Do we really need to be constantly reminded of the reality that life is not perfect and we are all going to die?  Reading is my escape from reality. I'm highly disappointed, I think I'm going to watch the...

PCOS AWARENESS MONTH!

A Book Review

I left a book review in Amazon for a book I bought. You know, Amazon encourages us to leave a review. But unless the merchandise was really bad, I just write something simple like: "Shipped quickly, great book." I put absolutely not thought into it.  I read reviews if I'm buying something and I've noticed in books they really go into details. But to be quite honest, I think writing a book review it's sort of pointless. If I like the book, I don't care what you think. I like the book and I'm going to read it. I like to make my own conclusions at the end of the day and I do the same things with movies as well. There are plenty of movies that have low ratings but I actually like. But going back to my original point, this morning I received an e-mail from amazon and someone wrote under my comment: "Well I'm sure Amazon likes your review, but this is supposed to be a book review." So, I being a smart ass, responded by saying: "Oh well Mark, I...

Excerpt: Grayish 2

Just thought I should take a new whole bunch of characters and write another one of these!  The Story begins in New York City. It was December 23 rd and people were running back and forth buying gifts in 34 th street. A couple of them stopped for a brief second to look at the displays and take pictures. In the middle of the crowd walked Rafael Ferrer. He had been rushing almost out of breath trying to catch up to his friend Ashley. Well, she was his friend for now. On Christmas night he was going to ask her to be his girlfriend. They had been working in the same office for three years and he was absolutely in love. “ Okay. I'll call you back I'm busy right now.” She closed the phone shut and sighed. “ Is everything okay?” Rafael asked as he fought through the crowd. “ Why don't you walk a little faster? I have things to do.” She said right before stopping dead in her tracks. Something in the display window caught her eyes. “Look at this.” Rafael stood behin...

Excerpt: The Threat Original Draft

Another excerpt from "The Threat" the first version of it anyways. Timothy came running and dragged us inside the house locking the doors and windows behind us. “Nobody can be outside tonight, not one single person.” “But…”I swallowed hard. “All those people hanging from the trees…” “We don’t know what happened.” He said. “They were there this morning when we woke up. We think it’s happening again. They are trying to get rid of us.” “What are we going to do?” Ally-Lyn asked. “We need to warn the king what’s going on. Even if we are outcasts we are still his people. He has intervene to save us before, I’m sure he can do it again.” “Why would he protect us?” I asked. “He is the reason why we are here.” “No, that priest is.” Ally-Lyn corrected. “Now that I’m working in another town I find out a lot of information. I’m reading a few books that explain the law we follow. It makes no sense.” “I am reading up on it too.” Timothy smiled at her. For a moment there...
