The End Of The Year December Post

We have about two weeks and three days left of the year. I wonder what people think or do during the last few weeks of the year. Do they sit down and think about their life? Do they look back at the year that's ending? Maybe think about the goals they completed and the ones that they'll be carrying on to the next? Do they consider the year to be a new beginning or it's just another year, who cares? I'm personally a great believer that with the new year comes a new attitude. I sit down and I think about what I did and didn't do during the year. Most importantly, I check myself. The good things I did? The negative things? Need improvement in any department? I create goals. Write a letter to future me. Create a board with pictures of places I want to visit and things I want to accomplish. It's a process that slowly but steady has helped me improve my life. This year for example I bought a car! This was one of the things on my list. I also did a road ...

Excerpt

I used to sit in the library for hours studying before heading back to my dorm to sleep. My roommate Sophia and her boyfriend Kevin had been traveling abroad and I found myself alone.  The cold snowy winters had caused for some classes to be canceled which allowed me to catch up on my work. I had finished reading my book and found myself bored one afternoon.  It had stopped snowing but the sky remained cloudy. I decided to stop by the local bar that would probably be empty at this time and grab a burger and a beer. Kyle, a friend, worked there and always gave me free lunch. I grabbed my coat and my bag and made my way downstairs. It was cold, probably below 15 degrees. I was fighting the two feet of snow that had fallen the previous night, I could barely walk. I surely didn’t want to slip and fall. “You have a cigarette?” I heard someone asked. I turned around and standing there was a man. He was black and had a white beard. He was wearing a red hat and a beat u...

Moons & November

November had some very interesting moons and it was wonderful to wake up every morning and looking up at the sky and getting such an amazing view. Now, I don't have a good camera but I though I should share some of the pictures I was able to capture in Indiana & New York.

Movie: "Under the Tuscan Sun"

Today I watched "Under The Tuscan Sun" based on a book, this movie brings to life the character of Frances Mayes, a writer suffering from depression after her husband cheats on her. Her friend pushes her to take a trip to Italy, she buys a home there and begins a new life.  I really liked this movie for four reasons. (1) Her husband doesn't ask for forgiveness or comes crawling back to her:  In life sometimes people are assholes to you and they don't apologize. They go on living as if they didn't hurt you and it's the reality. And she had to deal with that and move on and work through her feelings. That was realistic and I think quite important because after all the movie is about her journey and development. (2) I enjoyed her process of starting over and taking risks:  Her healing process is one to envy. Frances moves to a new country, meets the good people, find hobbies to keep her mind busy and even has a romance with a total sexy stranger. What is be...

"The Fundamentals Of Caring"

If you are in need of some inspiration you might want to watch "The Fundamentals of Caring". Paul Rudd, Craig Roberts, and Selena Gomez are part of the cast that brings this film to life. It's playing on Netflix right now and I'm having an off day today, so, I decided to watch it. Basically, you have Trevor who's suffering from DMD (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy). His life like many of our lives is a monotony. He eats the same things every day and watches the same show.  He has this map of places he wants to visit but has gone nowhere. Then, there's Ben a caregiver that can't seem to move on from his ex-wife after their son died in an accident. And you add Dot to the mix, a runaway whose mother died from cancer and is looking to go to Colorado,. Altogether we have a good group of people who need just a little bit more love and care. They find this love in each other because when you care about someone enough to help them achieve their dreams, you ea...

Roadtrip: Atlanta Georgia #PCOS #PCOSWALK

September is PCOS Awareness Month This year I thought I would do something different for PCOS. I didn't want to just post pictures and write an entry about how PCOS affects me everyday of my life.  And so with the help of my friend Manny and my sister Idalmi, we drove seven hours to Atlanta Georgia and attended the PCOS 5K walk on Sunday. The trip itself was an adventure. My sister and I with the bickering back and forth and Manuel just laughing at us. He already know how we are and he doesn't even take it seriously. That's why together us three made an awesome team. Manny kept us in check, Idalmi found a great place to eat and I made sure he had a hotel booked to sleep (plus we drove in my car). Music kept us going, we mostly listened to Twenty One Pilots and I'll be posting a song from them after this post. But moving it on we had 7 hours in the road to talk, laugh and enjoy the scenery. We visited an authentic Soul Food restaurant in Georgia called M...

Aleph By Paulo Coelho Pages 1-11

When I read books by Paulo Coelho I treat them like a bible. They are full of knowledge and great thoughts about life. He says things that really make sense in a world that can be quite confusing at times. I'm currently reading "Aleph" and I recommend it. The book like I said before is full of knowledge. It's very easy to connect with the thoughts of the writer. Also, he meets the most interesting people and travels to many different places. Therefore, he is able to teach you about random little things that he connects with life. Take for example the story of the Chinese Bamboo: "It apparently spends five years as a little shoot, using that time to develop it's roots system. And then, from one moment to the next, it puts on a spurt and grows up to twenty-five meters high." (Page 26) He later compares the Chinese Bamboo to his life and he decides to begin developing his "root system" and takes on many different challenges. I thought this com...

Rant: Divergent Series: Ascendant TV Show? TV Movie?

And so, if you don't know already...the director of the movie The Divergent Series: Ascendant decided that they want to turn this movie into a TV show. They also decided this movie will not play in theaters and as we already know the actors are dropping out of this project like flies. Why am I not surprised? They are upset that the third movie didn't do well but they should've known already. The book has really bad ratings since the author decided to kill the main character. I knew people were going to be disappointed once they caught up with their reading. Even though I had previously announced that I wasn't going to see it, Theo James' eyes were just too beautiful to not see them on a big screen. I wasn't disappointed because Theo James had a lot of screen time and they had perfect shots of his face and his body in the shower. BUT ANYWAYS, everyone left the theater in shock because a lot of the things in the book were changed in the movie and Tris didn't d...

What's on My Bucket List? (2K Tour) #2ktour #Otown

When I was growing up, I was absolutely in love with the boy bands. My sister, my cousin and I used to buy all their magazines and had a bunch of posters on the wall and followed their news on television. TRL and MTV were very huge in our lives in the 90's and early 2000's. But we never got the chance to actually meet the boy bands and experience the craziness of meeting the handsome guys we all dreamed about. That's until the 2K Tour. Even thought the Backstreet Boys and N*sync were not part of it, I was excited to hear that 98 Degrees and O-Town (without Ashley) were going to tour and Indiana just happened to be one of the states! I didn't think about it twice, we had to see them! It was absolutely amazing! We got to meet them and take pictures with them and dance crazy to their songs. It truly was a dream come true and I felt like a teenager again but a 90's teenager. They are just as handsome in real life as they are in pictures and they are talented as...

Rant- The Good Wife

What is it lately with TV Shows and crappy endings anyways? Really Good Wife, did you have to add yourself to the list? Well, you sure did last night after that finale. I mean, is that really what you leave your fans with after seven seasons? We don't get anything resolved for anyone. All you really did was bring up more questions and give us no answer. Just like you got Josh to return to the finale you could've asked Archie to come back for Cary. It would've been so romantic and shocking and probably a good topic fans would be talking about. Instead we are stuck wondering if Alicia ever find Jason or he got tired of her putting Peter before her own happiness and took off. There is just a lot that is left on the air. It felt incomplete as if there is something but nothing at the same time.  Let's not forget that they killed Will. After almost five season developing his love with Alicia and dividing the fans up with a love triangle, they killed Will. They bother to ...

Excerpt: No Title

Looking for ideas for the new novel I will be writing in November. "I love you." I said as she walked down the path towards the ocean. I thought she would turn around with a smile on her face and tell me that she loved me to. But Alexandra's face had no expression. Her eyes were filled with sadness and pain and that hurt. I had played a huge part in that pain. "Love?" She asked. "I've been sitting on the moon for three years alone watching as everyone moved on with their lives...including you. Today is the first day that I actually get to have a conversation with someone in three years, I don't even know what it's like to feel love after all the pain I have been through. I gave you my heart and when I needed you the most, you left me." "I..." "Please, I just need you to understand something; Everything has changed, our lives are never going to be the same. Look at me, look what I have become. How can you tell someone...

Random Thoughts: 1 & 2

ONE You know you're an adult when every day is full of exciting choices to make.  (That was a little sarcastic) Seriously, when I was in high school I didn't have to make this much choices. I find myself making important decisions for my life everyday. Now, I'm not complaining. It's just a realization that popped into my head today as I was sitting here in front of my computer. And I looked around and I saw myself differently. I wondered for a second if maybe I had made a bad choice in my life. But the more I looked, the more I realized that my dreams were slowly but surely becoming a reality for me. Even though sometimes it can be hard to pick one thing or another, at least I have choices. Having a choice about your life is a great thing to have. You are not trapped in yourself or in a situation; YOU CAN CHOOSE NOT TO BE IN THAT SITUATION. TWO LIVE UP TO YOUR OWN EXPECTATIONS! That quote is as strong as the man standing behind...

Happy April!

There is no better quote for a month that holds April Fool's Day

Little Moments

Episode 2 Having a dog is hard work so imagine what it's like to have two. It just happens that September of 2014, I was home with two dogs and they were driving me absolutely crazy. I had two puppies running around growling since 5 Am and chewing everything they saw in sight (particularly the boy). And so, John comes downstairs and he told me a story about cheese.  I keep that block of cheese in the freezer and it lasts me a long time. Now, Albert brings me another block of cheese and now I have two blocks of cheese/ Oh, how much we laughed! I felt overwhelmed with two dogs and he was overwhelmed about two blocks of cheese. See, he didn't like throwing away food and the block of cheese Albert had bought for him would soon expire. What to do with so much cheese? I had a magnificent idea! We loved lasagna and as a matter of fact t was John's favorite food. John worked on the cheese and I worked on the beef and later that night a delicious lasagna was...

My Stars: My mom

She is without a doubt my brightest star. She is my strength, my guidance, my love, my friend and my happiness. I can't thank her enough for everything she has done for me every day of my life; the way she sacrificed herself to make sure my siblings and I had everything that we needed.  I admire her and she is a role model to me and to women all over the world. I love her and she is my world.

Excerpt: Gambled Wife

“It’s all about how you do it and who you do it with.” Diane went on to say. “To cheat, you must be a very intelligent woman. You can’t just cheat with anyone. You must cheat with someone you know that you can trust. It can’t be someone who hates your husband because he’ll tell him just to see him mad. It can’t be a friend of your husband or the family because then he’ll tell out of guilt. It has to be with someone that simply doesn’t care. He just wants sex.” “He must have nothing to gain and nothing to lose.” Riley added. Alexandra served herself some coffee and listen attentively at the conversation. Emily Hunt, her best friend, listened as well. But by the look on her face you could tell she wasn’t pleased with the conversation. Jenny Saint on the other hand, was interested in finding a lover and was writing the tips down on a notebook she carried with her everywhere. “Now, I met this boy at the market…” Jenny bit on her lower lip. “Good or bad?” “Good.” Di...
